The BIG BOOK OF FASHION ILLUSTRATION By Martin Dawber - has been described as the bible of contemporary fashion illustration and features a couple of pieces by my good self!

It's a pretty good resource if I do say so myself and features a huge and inspirational variation of styles.

I've just picked up a sample of the poster insert from the printers which I think is looking awesome.
Hopefully the pics show the texture of the paper it's being printed on, which for those in the know is a Zeta Linen Brilliant white sheet.

The cover section on the other hand is not looking so great at the moment, which I think is down the fact it's being printed digitally as apposed to on a press like the poster. This will need some tinkering and I'll post the results soon.

Some people might turn to jelly at the sight of George Clooney or something, but for me it happened just yesterday when I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing artist Graham Humphreys. Famous for painting the UK posters of classic films such as Evil Dead 1, Evil Dead 2, Basket Case, Return of the living Dead and Nightmare on Elm Street to name a few.

This was at an exhibition of his work at frome, Somerset which is open until June 2. He was a top bloke and was kind enough to sign my brochure as well as a print of the original Evil dead poster and listen to my idiot ramblings, nice.

I'm feeling pretty good about this version. Looking pretty sweet!

I'll probably change it though after looking at it tomorrow morning.

I can't make up my mind, shaded or not....
.

The colour balance in the shaded version is all wrong at the moment, so maybe with a bit of work i'll go for this one.

Here's an inked up version of the previous image i posted. This was done with a mixture of brush pens and black markers of various thickness. I'm pretty pleased with this so far although i'm not sure my version of me looks like me?

Feeling pretty happy with the last pencil scribble that i posted here, i went ahead and drew up a tighter version...

This adds most of the detail that i'm going for on myself and Alexi (the wife) and i'm staring to think seriously about how the text is going to sit around the centre image.

Welcome to my first post here on Live Journal.
I've started this journal for a couple of reasons, one, to give a bit of 'work in progress' type content to my portfolio site wingnutdesigns.co.uk and two, to start showing you folks that are coming to my wedding in September the invites that you can expect to find in your post boxes very soon.

The basic idea for these invites is based around the American style rock/metal posters of the 80's and 90's typically used by bands such as Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Afi etc...

...here's one of the first scribbles;

I was messing about with the idea of a Frankenstein's bride type theme hence the white stripe in my other half's hair, but i've scraped that now in favour of this...

...which is a much more decorative take on the idea and is my little homage to an amazing Batman comic cover illustrated by Alex Ross.
